The Peninsula Beijing (北京王府半岛酒店) stands on Jinyu Hutong — Goldfish Lane — in Wangfujing, a short walk from Wangfujing Street and the Forbidden City. Open since 1989, it was remade in 2017 as an all-suite hotel: the original 525 rooms became 230 suites, the smallest 60m², each with a separate bedroom, living room, marble bathroom and dressing room. The two-storey Duplex Suites have the feel of a private residence. The Peninsula Spa, a heated indoor pool, contemporary French at Jing and Cantonese at Huang Ting complete the house.

Staying at The Peninsula Beijing
01 Where is The Peninsula Beijing and how do I get there?
It's at 8 Jinyu Hutong — Goldfish Lane — in Wangfujing, Dongcheng District, in the heart of central Beijing. Wangfujing Street and the Forbidden City are a short walk away, so the palace district is on foot from the door.
02 Is every room really a suite?
Yes. A renovation completed in 2017 combined the original 525 rooms into 230 suites across 14 floors. The entry Superior Suite is 60m², with a separate bedroom, living room, marble bathroom and dressing room. The Duplex Suite, about 74m², spreads over two storeys — bedroom upstairs, living room below, floor-to-ceiling windows on both levels — and larger categories run up through the Premier, Grand Premier and Wangfujing suites.
03 Who is this stay best for?
Travellers who want a grand hotel with room to spread out — a proper sitting room even in the entry suite — and the Forbidden City and Wangfujing within walking distance. It's one of the stays on our Classic China: Warriors, Pandas & Stone Pillars journey.
